Calendar year filers had to apply for an automatic extension of time to file a 2009 personal income tax return by April 15, 2010.
(Note that although the extension gives you six more months to file, you must still make full payment of any taxes you estimate that you owe by the original due date.)
If you applied, you may view a previously filed personal income tax extension request online.
Fiscal year filers must complete a paper extension application.
If you make any errors when applying online
Follow the steps below:
- If you paid less than the amount owed, simply submit the difference between the amount paid and owed. To make your payment, log in to your Online Services account (or create one). Once logged in, select "Make an extension payment for tax year 2009". You can pay directly from your bank account or by credit card.
- If you overpaid and are owed a refund, you don't need to do anything.
