New York loses billions each year in tax revenues owed but not collected, known as the "tax gap". Most taxpayers voluntarily file their tax returns, but some do not. To provide a fair tax system for all taxpayers, we aggressively address the "tax gap". Our coordinated criminal and civil enforcement initiatives include:
